Important Changes Coming to My Patreon Content
Back when I decided to launch my Patreon campaign in June 2014, it was met with a ton of controversy — and honestly, for good reason. This was before crowdsourcing was as common as it is today. Ask for any sort of donation back then and people exploded with anger. However, looking back on things, I am beyond pleased that to have moved forward with my risky decision.
The content creation space has evolved significantly in the last ten years. People have quite literally built careers based solely on expressing their views and unique outlook on the world. This includes myself, and I could not be more grateful. My Patreon community has changed my life.
So, what’s next on the roadmap?
Simplified memberships
Until today, there were several membership tiers to choose from on my Patreon page. These included Community Support, Early Access, Exclusive Vlogs, and Patrons Showcase — each offering unique perks. Starting today, I am making it a goal of mine to minimize these down to three. Doing so will not only introduce a slight price increase on my most popular tier, but you will also notice a decrease that actually saves on costs.
Below you can find a brief breakdown of my new membership tiers:
$2 Early Access - Watch specific content ahead of public release, including weekend vlogs, holiday videos, and more.
$8 Exclusive Vlogs - Access 470+ exclusive vlogs, completely ad-free. You also have one spot in the Patrons Showcase.
$25 Live Stream Sponsor - Feature any link of your choice in my live Kick streams, in addition to a chat room command.
It’s important to note that the $8 membership tier replaces both the $5 and $10 tiers as one. Going this route simplifies things for patrons who are looking to get more value for less.
Why the price increase?
Increasing the price of my most popular membership tier was not an easy decision to make. If anything, it was long overdue. This decision was certainly not made out of greed. Instead, I kindly ask that you look at things from my perspective.
Between the rising costs of everyday living and the fact that I have proudly (and consistently) published 470+ exclusive vlogs throughout the past ten years, I feel the increase is fully justified. Throw in the additional perk of being featured in the Patrons Showcase, and the low cost of $8 per month appears quite fair.
I realize asking for an extra $3 each month is not ideal for everyone, and that’s completely understandable. Because of this, I’ve decided to keep the $5 membership tier around for current patrons. Remaining an active $5 patron gets you access to all vlogs that were published prior to May 10, 2024. New patrons will no longer be accepted in this tier, effective today.
Any vlogs published before and after May 10, 2024 will be accessible to those who pledge as part of the new $8/month tier.
Your support is always appreciated
Despite this being the first time I have increased (and decreased) costs for my exclusive content, I fully expect to receive some backlash from a small percentage of patrons. Please understand, however, that your support is always appreciated. I genuinely recognize everything my community has done for me, and I am eternally grateful.
Patreon has changed my life for the better. I honestly cannot imagine my day-to-day routine without it.
