Patreon Update: March 2016

Welcome to my Patreon Update for March 2016. This is my monthly report of how my Patreon campaign is performing, as well as my chance to thank everyone for their ongoing support.

As always, let's get started with last month's earnings. Below you can see my transparency report regarding all the pledges that were received and processed for February.

February 2016 Earnings

Despite what the bar graph below may suggest, earnings in February were actually higher than they were in January — by about $195. I'll touch upon that in a bit. For those keeping track, below are the latest numbers:

  • Pledged: $2,417.50
  • Processed: $2,297.00
  • Service Fees: $265.35

First and foremost, I think it's important to note a change that went into effect on Patreon and how unprocessed pledges are handled. I believe this may relate to the misleading bar graph above. And because transparency is so important to me, I want to express my opinion on the matter.

Alongside the introduction of the block feature, Patreon has also changed the way content is accessed. Moving forward, creators' posts (such as my exclusive vlogs) are only accessible by patrons who successfully pledge. In other words, if a patron's payment information is invalid, then they will not be able to access any of my posts.

How all this relates to the supposed drop in pledges, is beyond my understanding. I just know that my campaign has seen a slight increase since last month. I guess I have to assume it's related.

Needless to say, I could not be happier about this news. I have always wanted Patreon to address this issue, and they finally are. It may not be a 100% perfect solution, but it's certainly a great start.

So, what else has been happening? Well, if you haven't heard yet, I recently completed a project of mine that I have been wanting to create for quite a while now. It's a 3-minute trailer of the patrons-only vlogs, of which I actually featured in a recent weekend vlog. Check it out below.

Because I take a lot of pride in providing exclusive vlogs for my patrons on a weekly basis, I wanted to show non-patrons what they could experience, for just $5 every month. This also helps me directly as a content creator, as I put so much time and effort into my content — especially recent weekend vlogs.

And best of all, the trailer is already working its magic. Since uploading the video, my Patreon campaign has gained nearly 20 new patrons and about $140 in pledges. I could not be more thankful for your support. Thank you so much for making this possible.

I am constantly thinking of new ideas that can further improve my Patreon campaign, so stay tuned for updates in the coming months.

$25+ Pledge Promotions

Every month I promote websites and/or services ran by those who are kind enough to pledge within the $25+ tier. Please take a moment to review anything below that you may find interesting:

Monthly $25 Amazon Gift Card Giveaway

For this month's $25 Amazon gift card giveaway, I would like to congratulate Mitchell Hennessey for winning March's drawing! You will be hearing from me shortly.

I say this all the time, but I really cannot express enough how thankful I am for everyone's support. Hopefully the patrons-only vlog trailer is a good indication of how much passion I put into my campaign. Patreon, in my eyes, is a game changer — and I don't see that changing any time soon.

Here's to another successful month. Stay awesome!
